Bollywood insiders know that Salman Khan, known for his temper tantrums, and director Subhash Ghai have had major clashes in the past. Indeed their verbal battles were so bad, that reportedly, both urinated on each other in a fit of temper!

DNA reports that Salim, Salman’s dad, had ordered his wayward son to apologize to Ghai and make amends. And so, Salman is now back in the Ghai camp and will be part of Ghai’s new film Main Yuvraj.

In a reconciliatory mood, Ghai says, “Salman and I share a deep bond. Somewhere, he always wanted to work with me. Salman is like a ‘little child’. He could have been an emperor in Bollywood if only he had watched his steps.”

Perhaps Ghai is trying to say that had Salman avoided bad publicity due to his reckless behavior and angry outbursts with important people in the industry, he would have bagged some excellent films.

Ghai continues, “In my film Main Yuvraj, I am presenting him as an actor (just like he was in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam), and not as Salman, the star. The story is about today’s arrogant youth. In most films he has been just Salman Khan and his talent has been untapped. I want to change that.”

Ghai also says that he has signed Katrina Kaif because of her European looks, which are a must for the heroine of this modern film.

“Salman has nothing to do with my choice,” says the famous director, “Both stars have been signed after due care but I hope their chemistry lights up the screen – because they are very much in love.”

On another note, Katrina has rushed to the rescue of boyfriend Salman saying that the media should leave the star alone.

“Gossip mongers need a life,” she says in the TOI, “We are definitely not getting married. People are not signing me because of Salman’s recommendations. I am getting credit for my own work, thank you. People say anything they like about him because he does not care to defend himself. He deserves respect for the 20 years he has spent in Bollywood!”

While Ghai and Katrina are busy defending the ‘brattish child’ in Salman, the actor once again attracted publicity when he was reported to be dining this weekend with Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan at a suburban restaurant in Mumbai.

Apparently, wearing a t-shirt that screamed ‘You Make Me Big’, he walked over to a group of young women dining at the next table and recommended his ‘good-looking, single friend’ Saif, to them. He called the astounded Saif over to the equally shocked women and introduced the dumbstruck actor to them while the Khans and Johar looked on with wonder! There was no exchange of telephone numbers!
