Salman Khan told by HC to pack-up, leave protected Amer Fort

In an unexpected pack-up for Bollywood star Salman Khan, shooting for film ‘Veer’ in the Amer Fort here was on Friday stopped by the Rajasthan High Court which slammed state officials for their “greed” and “madness” that has created havoc at the protected monument whose wall was damaged during filming on Thursday.

“Unfortunately, not only the public but especially the concerned authorities have become blind, deaf and dumb in the glitter of money. In recent past, historical protected monuments have become commercial source of income,” it said.

Putting a stop to shooting, a Division Bench comprising Justice Ashok Parihar and Justice G S Sarraf also issued a notice to the state government asking it to explain why compensation should not be recovered erring officers but and the film producer for the damage to public property and injuries caused to onlookers in the wall collapse. “Money and greed, coupled with power create blindness, madness and the person becomes totally insane and insensitive.

When the Government and public authorities indulge in such practice, a great havoc is created resulting in chaos all around. The episode and mishap in Amer Palace is a glaring example of the same,” the court said, saying the original land-scape of the main courtyard at the entrance of Amer Fort has been destroyed.
