Shah Rukh Khan trumps Salman

Mumbai: The speculations are over and it’s official now. Shah Rukh Khanand not Salman Khan is kicking off the big reality show on Sony TV titled Lift Kara De. And the grapevine is gossiping that it is the closeness that SRK shares with the host of the show Karan Johar and Yash Raj Films run by Yash and Aditya Chopra that might have done it for him.

“SRK is close to both Karan and Yash Raj and Salman is extremely close to the channel for which he hosts a TRP grabbing show. It was a difficult decision to choose who will kick-start the show but we all know how lucky and loyal SRK has been to YRF and he is best friends with KJo. That might have done it for him as he has definitely scored one-up on Salman by being the first star to be showcased,” says an insider.

The highly placed informer adds: “Yash Chopra had personally come on the sets when SRK was shooting. Salman’s episode will now come later.”

Danish Khan of Sony says: “There is nothing to read between the lines. The choice of star has happened because of the shooting schedule.”

Salman Khan hunts for real life Veers

Now here’s a superstar who came up with a novel way of celebrating his birthday. On the Dec 27, 2009 Salman Khan went on a worldwide search for ‘real life Veers’. Reveals an inside source “Salman bhai is constantly in touch with his fans on his blog.

He launched the blog on his father Salim Khan’s birthday and then he launched a ‘Hunt for Veer’ on his own birthday”. Says Salman himself “You have often heard my stories now I want to know yours.

Salman interrupts shoot for kids

On Tuesday, Salman Khan abandoned his patchwork shooting for his period film Veer at the Khans’s farmhouse in Panvel and rushed to Mumbai to entertain kids at a children’s event.

On Tuesday late evening, while in the middle of the shoot, Salman received a call. When he hung up, he called for his car and informed the crew that he had to leave immediately. Fearing a family crisis, unit members rushed to his side only to be told that he needed to drive back from Panvel to a gymkhana in Mumbai to entertain a large number of kids.

A charitable organisation had organised a children’s nite at the gymkhana. The kids had been constantly asking for an appearance by their favourite star, Salman Khan, but the organisers ignored their request. However, during the event, on Tuesday evening, the kids became adamant and refused to perform on stage until Salman uncle was called to dance with them. Actor Salman Khan has experimented with many shades of characters in his films from a college going guy, to a father, to a mentally ill patient, to a love sick guy, to a warrior and a rebel.

However, now producer Boney Kapoor has signed him for his next project Mr. India 2. The actor is to play the role of a villain named Mogambo, which was played by Amrish Puri in the original movie. The role was a legend in itself and the actor had played it to a perfect‘t’.

The movie itself was a cult one and to make another one of that magnitude is quite a challenge. The dedication of Salman in all his movies is so great that his aura spreads to the entire film. Now it is to be seen how Salman takes to this role and in spite of playing the wicked villain he wins over the audience’s heart.

What ever it is, after the role of a strong warrior that he has played in his yet to be released film Veer this should be a cake walk for our macho and strong star to enact. We wish him all the best.
